120,000+
It's official
| The death toll from the earthquake and ensuing tsunami is over 100,000 and still rising as more bodies are found. Don't see our government strapping up and putting in too much money into fixing a natural disaster. Think of it this way... the families of the 9/11 victims recieved more "sympathy" funds than the effort that's going into helping the survivors of this NATURAL disaster.
Pretty fucked up if you ask me. |

80,000+
| The death toll seems to be growing exponentially... know what our government is doing about it?
"The United States, who currently has no shortage of expenditures, initially pledged $15 million dollars, though that number has since been raised to $35 million. Interestingly, and to put things in perspective, here are some comparison figures which might interest you… US Tsunami Relief Pledge - $35 Million 2004 Florida Hurricane Relief - $3.17 Billion Cost of Bush's 2005 Inauguration - $40 Million+ US per capita Tsunami Relief Pledge - $35 million/295 million = $0.12 Australian per capita Relief Pledge - $27.6 million/19 million = $1.45 (in US dollars)(source)" -Mblog Kind of sad when you think about it... do so many lives mean so little because there is no economic gain? |
58,000+
| The death toll continues to climb as more and more bodies are revealed by the ocean. The zones that are still being explored are swarming with victims of the tsunami that came after the earthquake that registered an 8.9 on the Richter Scale.
The United States has doubled it's relief efforts to a whopping $35 million. Small beans when compared to an unjust war and a politician's agenda. Iraq has cost the U.S. over $200 billion to date. While President Bush might not even approve of sending more aid to the already poverty stricken third world countries like Sri Lanka and Indonesia (which were hit worst). The part that really cooks my goose is the audacity of the local news to include the fact that 12 American's were killed during all of this. Just goes to show, arrogance and importance (in the same boat with ethnocentricity and stupidity) makes for one hell of a combination when it comes to world news and the tragedy of entire families being wiped out. While a 12 people dying in a flood may make the head story of the 5:30 AM news... but the war in Iraq just had to follow it up. Yes, another 29 are dead in an explosion in Baghdad. An anonymous tip sent the Iraqi police to a resident in downtown Baghdad that a militant was building bombs that were supposed to be used in yet another attempt to destroy American checkpoints throughout the city. No U.S. soldiers were killed... So naturally... The report showed a picture of downtown Baghdad and then quickly cut to commercial. Meanwhile, a U.S. tourist gets interviewed because he survived a tsunami while on vacation. Sounds kind of shitty to me. I'm guessing this guy who couldn't hold on to other people trying to reach for branches of the trees that were not uprooted gets an interview and will get somewhat of a congratulations when he arrives home back here in the U.S. Sounds like a pretty fucked up and all backwards to me. But then again, it is the media we're talking about here... |

Aftermath isn't just a record label...
| Extreme tidal activity due to an earthquake registering 8.9 on the Richter scale has killed almost 10,000 people in Asia, according to various news agencies. The same reports are also stressing that by no means have all of the casualties of the quake been discovered. The BBC has reported that the earthquake was the strongest the world has seen in some 40 years. Originating off of Aceh in northern Indonesia, which was hit the hardest, it reportedly caused a tidal surge that swept out across thousands of kilometers. Tsunami's caused by earthquakes have been known to travel up to 500 kilometers and hour, according to experts.

I/O
Depression is just one of those things that nobody can predict. It hits you at the most inopportune times and in different forms. Personally, my usual symptoms include:
Well, the fact that insomnia has set in again. I have more time to think, and for those of you who know me, thinking is not my strong point. So my thinking goes to waste on useless topics. The extreme paranoia sets in when I come to terms with the fact that life will NOT get better. True love only comes around once in a lifetime, you either need to hold onto it or realize that you will never be truely happy again. The sedated view of reality comes in last, because even when you think you've found something that makes you happy in life, it might not be around tomorrow. The ability to be happy is the #1 thing that people take advantage of today. Think of what life is like when all materialism is gone. Think of what is going to happen to all those rich fuckers who lose everything. Think of all the poor people who are finally going to be deemed as equals. I think (therefore I am) that we need to start a revolutionary new idea. Freedom. I know the first thing that's going to come rushing out of your craniums... 'we already have freedom, that's what democracy is all about' . WRONG. THINK AGAIN. We have regulated freedom. The biggest difference in my mind, would be the fact that we should have direct democracy determining what is best for our country and what the next step is towards this global fuckover that we are now enduring. Shit needs to change. That's all I can say. In one instant I'm applauding Osama bin Laden to challenge the western world. But he's doing it in the wrong fashion you say? What other way would you rather him do it?? I see that diplomatic relations with Palestine and Israel are working so smoothly. So, I guess I'm applauding Osama in all instances. Innocent lives are being sacrificed every day, I'm sure the extra 3,000 some-odd his followers' actions took are just a small sliver of the pie. I guess the new trend is taking lives. Innocent or not. While this trend is in, I'll continue to stay in my room and just look at it with this lense. Can't wait until I can say that this world is a good place to live in. Because right now, it's not. In/Out In/Out In/Out. Seems to me that this trend's always been in. Momma should've had that abortion... |

Jumbo Jet Headache
| My friend Mike is currently enlisted in the United States Air Force at Clarkson University. This is my conversation with him today (excuse the crude humor here and there, but it's necessary and a tradion in our friendship):
Mike: i have to be back at school new years day Me: ouch Me: that sucks ass Mike: yeah, but i'm going to VA for a week Mike: which is nice Me: yea i guess Mike: what's even better is that the air force is paying for it Me: lol Me: well that makes it a great trip Mike: so i'm going completely free Mike: strike eagles Mike: combat controllers Mike: hot chicks Mike: warm weather Me: lol Mike: the good shit Me: u always say hot chicks Mike: there should be in virginia Mike: it's a big area Mike: we have hot chicks at clarkson too, just not many Me: lol Me: we have alot here Mike: i know Mike: but u have no air force, so there's no chance of me being there Me: lol Me: start it up here Mike: no schools with high female rates have a military unit Mike: oh yeah, a wing full of girls, that will work Mike: what's worse is they're all liberal arts Me: lol Me: true Mike: we need combat capable officers Me: idk if they'll be combat capable Me: but i know some of their other capabilities Mike: haha Mike: those wont do us any good in iraq there my friend Mike: we kill people and break things Me: ur telling me a bunch of men living in a cave are going to shoot a bunch of hot ladies?? Mike: we blow stuff up, and we're the best at it Mike: if they're american, yes Me: lol Me: we'll just have to drop them into Iraq while nude Mike: or u can drop me and my boys in there and we'll just start killing people Mike: that always works Me: yea Me: until they start fighting back Mike: they'll be dead Me: there's always another willing to fight Mike: i'll kill him too Mike: and the next, and the next Me: u say that now Me: but its different when u actually have a gun in hand Mike: true Mike: but none of our men are quitting- they're reenlisting at rates higher than ever Mike: they believe in what we're fighting for Me: ??? Me: hmmm Me: give me a minute Me: i think we're about to go into political mode Mike: u see, u'll never win this one Mike: so it's better not to start Me: eh Me: watch and learn Me: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4079201.stm Me: read it Mike: active duty are favored Mike: rumsfeld is a moron Mike: the gov't spends the most money to educate and train us, so that makes us the least expendable Me: lol Me: hold on Me: i just have to savor u saying that rumsfeld is a moron Mike: dude, everyone in the military thinks that Mike: same with how we feel about the whole damn administration Mike: doesn't change how we feel about the war Me: true Me: but its still a crap war Me: we shouldnt be there Mike: you're right Mike: we should be fighting in other places Me: o yea Me: i read that there's a 70% likelyhood that there's gonna be a draft next year Mike: u know what my opinion is on that? Me: ? Mike: fuck anyone under my command who was not willing to enlist of their own free will Mike: they'll instantly be on my shit list Me: lol Me: yea well idk if i'm going to be sticking around if a draft is instituted Mike: are u fucking serious? Me: b/c i'm not going to Iraq Me: i will not go to Iraq Mike: u think ppl wanted to go to WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam? Me: if they want me to go to Afghanistan Me: fine Me: if they want me in south america Me: good Me: but i will not go to Iraq Mike: nobody wants to go to war, but if that's what this nation needs, then fine Mike: why not iraq? Me: because Me: we have no reason to be there Mike: do u have any idea what we're acutally doing over there? Me: killing people Mike: we're rebuilding that country Me: yeah Me: because we destroyed most of it Mike: more than a million iraqi's now have phones, running water, internet, electricity Me: yeah Mike: that never had it before the war Me: but how many of them wanted that? Me: how many of them were fine with their way of life before? Mike: not many Mike: that's why saddam was a dictator Me: if they wanted change they should have done it themselves Mike: his people hated him Me: i know Mike: they were unable to Mike: he oppressed them Me: that's a load of shit Me: and you know that Me: if they really wanted him out that bad Me: I pick up and AK available at the cornerstore Me: and just go fucking nuts Mike: what is an unarmed civilian supposed to do against one of the most powerful armies in the world? Me: ???saddam's army??? Mike: in the mid 90 Me: was not one of the most powerful in the world Me: dude Mike: 90's it was the 4th largest in the world Mike: that's a proven fact Me: half of them would have joined up with the uprising Me: if not more Mike: they opposed the uprising, cause they weren't kurdish Me: its just sad that no one had the balls to speak up Me: its kind of like Nazi Germany Mike: why do u think so many surrendered to us- they didn't want to fight for saddam Me: yeah Mike: exactly Me: but they know that they're not going to win as an organized group Me: that's why guerrila warfare is all that's happening Mike: that's why someone on the outside to remove saddam Mike: little by little we're killing off all the insurgents Me: yeah but we're killing tons of innocent people in the process Mike: not intentionally Me: and we violated the Geneva Convention Me: yea i know that Me: but we're still doing it Mike: how did we violate the geneva convention? Me: and there's no excuse in this day and age Me: hold on i'll pull it up Me: its from a BBC article Me: To "soften up" the rebels, American forces dropped five 500-pound bombs on "insurgent targets." The Americans destroyed the Nazzal Emergency Hospital in the center of town. They stormed and occupied the Fallujah General Hospital, and have not agreed to allow doctors and ambulances go inside the main part of the city to help the wounded, in direct violation of the Geneva Conventions. Mike: they violate the same convention by disguising themselves as civilians Mike: they forfeited the general rules of combat by fighting dirty- one thing they failed to realize is that we can do a better job at it Me: good point Me: but its still not right Me: we blow up a hospital Mike: personally i think they're fighting a pointless fight Mike: true Me: and then close down the only other one in the city Me: its kind of salt on the wound Mike: they're going to lose, they know it, the general population supports us Me: yeah that's true Mike: we should be taking prisoners though Me: but they're only doing that because they're just as afraid of us as they were saddam Mike: perhaps- but if they took time to analyze our objectives, they should realize that as soon as they stop resisting, we leave Me: and you know that the elections coming up are going to be so fucking biased and tainted Me: yea that is true Mike: the iraqi military and police force has like 150,000 troops Mike: what elections? Mike: in 2008? Me: no Me: the Iraqi election coming up in Jan Mike: oh right Me: its going to be horrible Mike: true, but at least it's a start Mike: we need to let the UN in there to monitor the elections Mike: but Bush doesn't like the UN, so go figure Me: yeah but its going to just set up a puppet govt that's going to give us cheap oil Mike: true Me: at least until Bush leaves office Mike: i hate bush, but what more can i do Mike: my vote is useless Mike: no matter who i voted for- kerry was gonna win new york, and bush was going to win the entire thing Me: yea Mike: we need election reform very badly Me: yea we do Me: plus Me: it was rigged Me: Ohio was a really troublesome state Mike: personally i think they both sucked Me: and Kerry won by 2% in men's vote and in womens Me: yet bush still wins the state Mike: what made me so mad was everyone thought that kerry would stop the war right away Mike: he had no intentions of doing that Me: yea that's true Me: that's why i didnt vote for him Me: b/c he wasnt going to change much from what bush had in mind Mike: who did u vote for, just out of curiosity? Me: - Mike: nobody? Me: correct Mike: good man Me: did u vote? Mike: hell no Mike: they all sucked Mike: u know what would have been a kick ass presidential team? Me: ??? Me: george steinbrenner Me: lol Mike: McCain and Edwards Me: eh Mike: those two would have kicked so much ass Me: edwards didnt bring much to the table Mike: true Me: he didnt impress me in any debate Me: but he's less of a moron than kerry Mike: but mccain, u can't challenge him Me: i like mccain Me: he is involved in society Mike: but edwards more than anything is a charismatic speaker Me: which is more than u can say for most politicians Me: yeah Mike: this country needs that Me: but that's about it Me: lol Me: true Me: better than bush speeches Me: haha Mike: i would love to see someone try a military debate with mccain Me: yeah Me: that's a no win Me: b/c he's been through it all Me: cant say the same for either kerry of bush Mike: 6 years as a POW Mike: nobody knows what that's like Me: mccain does Me: (duh) |

May We Never Forget You...
| This is to everyone who ever encouraged me, inspired me, or doubted me. Thanks, I'm still here because of all of you.
Considering that a draft is almost inevitable at this point, this little boy might be making his way north to Canada. The place where I've always wanted to live anyways. Lets just hope this whole thing can be avoided. I'm sick of the wars and politicians crooked ways. I say I'm going to sue President Bush before I either, move to Canada, or fight in a war. We're going to see who and what can stop these things from happening. O yea, I slept until 2:15 today, I've been to one class so far this week, o how mother would be proud. |

O SNAP
| How many remember 9/11/2001?
You all do. How many remember how many planes were 'reportedly' hijacked? If you don't recall, there were 4. 2 into the WTC buildings 1 into an open field and 1 into the pentagon. But I have been shown a video that really makes me think there were only 3 passenger planes hijacked. CHECK IT OUT: http://www.freedomunderground.org/memoryhole/pentagon.php#Main |
