Let Us See Who the Real Patsies Are

Hello hello. So it's been a while since I made a new post and I was going to cut the corner but I'm sacrificiing my valuable time to entertain you people (the things I do). So today was a a pretty level day. I finally got a decent bass playing session in. 3 hours nonstop. 2 of them running through songs and another just practicing my octave runs and my string muting.

I can't believe that there are some people out there who don't watch the X-games. I'm severely pissed about closed mindedness of some other people. So I guess to each their own. I'm back to la la land filled with music....

don't lie about your score either...

So Let Us Work Together to get something cool!!

So way back to the first few weeks of my first semester at Fredonia my suitemate found a web site. The website is one of those cheap advertising pieces that offer you a great product if you do a trial offer and refer a few friends.

I've already done one of the trial offers and all that's left is to refer 5 other people to do an offer too.

Now think about this. A 30gig Ipod... if you do one of their shitty offers and refer a few more friends. What the hell are they thinking? I did the six month subscription with Rhapsody and then cancelled it. $10 a month. That's $60 and now I can get an Ipod if you would be as so kind to follow suite and just try to figure out the cheapest deal on the menu!! (some of these are as low as $7) refer five people and bang. You get an Ipod. How this works... I may never know.

I Miss You My Love

I haven't been able to play my Spector in forever. It's getting depressing on my end. My 5 string just doesn't have that ring to it that a Spector with Slinky strings on it does. Oh how I long for the days with long hair, a working 4-string, and a roomate who sleeps with his alarm clock.

I think I need to grow the hair back out again and dying it black again or blue or green. I don't know (jessica's department, not mine).

On another note. I'm pretty much done commenting on other peoples' blogs. Just those that I know and talk with on a somewhat regular basis.

How many Italians does it take to screw in the light bulb?
Three. One to screw it in, and two to shoot the witnesses.

Tragedy

John Kerry visits a primary school and sits in on one of the classes, which is in the middle of a discussion of words and their meaning.

The teacher asks Mr. Kerry if he would like to lead the discussion of the word "tragedy".

So, the illustrious leader asks the class for an example of a "tragedy."

One little boy stands up and offers: "If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a runaway tractor comes along and knocks him dead, that would be a tragedy.

"That's wrong," Kerry says. "That would be considered an accident."

A little girl raises her hand: "If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy."

"You are completely incorrect" says the Senator. "That would be what we
would consider a great loss".

The room goes silent. No other children volunteer. Kerry searches the room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?"

Finally at the back of the room a small boy raises his hand. In a quiet voice he says: "If a plane carrying Senator John Kerry was struck by a missile and blown to smithereens, that would be a tragedy".

"Fantastic !" exclaims Kerry. "You are absolutely right. Can you tell me why that would be a tragedy?"

"Well," says the boy, "because it sure as heck wouldn't be a great loss and it probably wouldn't be an accident!"

The clock keeps ticking

It's midnight. I'm tired. I have to be up at 7

Microeconomics is almost guaranteed to be a waste of my time.

I didn't have any classes today. I woke up at 11, played bass until 2. Played Day of Defeat for an hour. Took a shower and then just watched the news for a couple hours.

I'm on one hell of a poker tear. I've been winning like crazy. I just won a $5 buy in tournament a few hours ago. I think I'm just going to quit working and play poker. I mean I could do it. But I'm too impatient to not play my 4 7 of clubs.

Steve Martin is going to be in the new Pink Panther movie. It's going to be awesome. I have to see a play for my theatre class. Either that or be in one. I'm NOT going to act in a play, maybe if I can find some audio tech work to do but I doubt that MV will have something along those lines.

I've been inexplicably falling asleep at shitty times during the day. 3pm and waking up just in time to make it to night class. I feel like an insomniac, except one who sleeps too much during the day.

This semester is going to blow. I'm going to have no free time. Not many big papers but just constant work and studying and reading and blah I hate taking core classes that I've already learned half this shit in high school but I can't remember any of it anymore.

Some local music on the menu today:

John Ashcroft's Foiled Again!

So today's political topic: The Supreme Court ruling on the assisted suicide situation in Oregon.

The formal attorney general of the United States was deemed to have "acted without legal authority when he threw the federal government's weight against the Death With Dignity Act in Oregon five years ago."

In the first major case brought to the Supreme Court chief justice John Roberts Jr's young career the vote was a mere 6 to 3 in favor of the right of the state of Oregon to keep it's assisted suicide law intact.

The court only ruled that Ashcroft did not have the 'extraordinary authority' to make such threats against those doctors in Oregon who followed the state law.
This case is hardly landmark. It is simply a case of an overachieving weasel trying to stick his hand into another situation to make himself a bigger deal than he is.
The court agreed to hear the case after Ashcroft couldn't influence the results he wanted in the lower court systems (we call this an appeal).
Justice Roberts didn't even write a paper about his dissention with Ashcroft's opinion. He merely signed off on another Justice's paper. When asked what his views and opinions were (considering he voted against a Bush co-appointee) he merely replied that it was not about his personal views, the call in question was the right for the state to keep this power.
The ruling on the field stands.

Oregon voters approved the Death With Dignity Act in 1994 and affirmed it 1997. The law says that doctors who follow specific procedures may prescribe lethal doses of federally regulated medications to help their mentally competent, terminally ill patients end their lives. Through 2004, 325 people had obtained the lethal prescriptions, and 208 had used them.

A spokesman for the President said that they are disappointed with the decision because Bush is trying to build a nation that is appreciative of life in all stages.
I'll appreciate being terminally ill alright. All the way to the White House, where I plan on collapsing in the oval office. That'll show Mr President some real appreciation.

Sappy song today.

Holy Schmoligans!

So school schudule that I made was wiped out considering that I didn't pay for it that day... which is great considering that I go to the business office to be told it's already payed for. So now I have to build my class schedule again. It turned out pretty much the same, except now my Macroeconomics class was full up. Now I'm taking microeconomics... at 9am. Means 7am wakey uppy time for me! This is not going to end well.

So class schedule turns out a little like this:

Microeconomics: 9-9:50am M W F
Theater: 10-10:50am M W F
Human Biology: 1-1:50 M W F
Human Biology Lab: 12-1:50pm T
Elementary Spanish 2: 6-8:45pm W

This won't end well. At very least I'm stoked that I don't have any classes on Thursday and I've left room open for J.B.F.

Not to mention, I got a haircut yesterday.

I'll leave you now with a particularly great tune (fuck you christy!!):

Wasting More Time

So there's one seat left open on the Supreme Court. So the President is obligated to nominate and the Senate to confirm. This is not going to be a good day for the USA if Samuel Alito Jr. becomes a justice.

I do not discount his credibility nor his record as a legal advisor, but what most people don't understand when changing over from a lawyer to a Supreme Court Judge is that the responsibility of these justices stretch the entire nation and effect everyone in it. Something that I don't think Alito is ready for considering his views on abortion and his obvious disregard for the right to privacy.

Uber-liberal and my senator Charles Schumer sat on the council that listened and questioned Alito and had this to say at the end of the hearing
Unfortunately, by refusing to confront our questions directly and by giving us responses that really don't illuminate how you really think, as opposed to real answers, many of us have no choice but to conclude that you still embrace those views completely or in large part.

When you disappoint Schumer, you've dissappointed all the Democrats except they're too tentative to come out and say it.

"I have to say, I deplored, really deplored, some of the tactics that have been used in this hearing," said Senator Orrin G. Hatch, Republican of Utah.

So not only is he dissappointing Democrats, he's dissappointing people who aren't in this for the political party stacking.

Probably most disturbing about this entire process is the fact that the media has spent so much time covering it, the Senate devoting so much of it's time to it, the lack of progress that has been made over all of it, and (most of all) the time I spent watching all of this shit.

Roe v Wade is one of the essential cases/rulings in U.S. legal history and he wishes to overturn the decision (which will be brought up in about a month, if he gets in). Some say that Alito has no political agenda whatsoever and is acting on his own. Which is actually fine with me. It's just that his natural beliefs line straight up with a Neo-conservative government that is going to dispell all freedom before they are through. Wire taps on phones is one thing, but feeling that Terrorists don't deserve the rights of American citizens (even if they are citizens) is another monster in itself.

Perhaps if Alito didn't manage to turn every question into a haze of confusion things would be a little clearer to where he stands on issues. He must have the same guy that helped out Bill Clinton.

I don't think that Alito is going to be a positive in America. We're seeing the end of an age ladies and gentlemen. The world is changing. Much as it did when the Romans fell. Perhaps we should learn something about equilibrium and the environment from all of this:

Never discount that the earth will always balance itself out. In all facets.

You're Drinking Yourself Blind

So Dan finally made a video to go along with the song Blind. As you can tell it's awfully low budget!! That's the one thing that I wish the U.S. government would adopt from the Canadian body. A couple programs to help those musicians who have the talent, but not the funds to put out the goodness that is melody.

Speaking of music, bass playing has gone way down because of the three hours straight of class and then the working every day makes it impossible to play because I don't get home until after my little brother is sleeping. I could use headphones, except the only pair that I have can't handle the low end and cut out and it makes it impossible to play and keep the song going at the same time.

So NHL 06 is dominating all leisure time after dark. Bennifer aka "chuckles" is the leading scorer shorthanded, as well as the best face off winner in the league. Ciavarro's a pussy and is out for 10 days. Pitt is the best scoring defenseman in the league. G.M. Grimshaw might want to consider replacing Jeremy at goalie because 3.5 goals a game is not cutting it.

I know if I ask this question to everyone Grace is just going to jump on me for not knowing and answer/insult me at the same time. So here it is:

Gracie, could you please explain to me the whole +/- system in the NHL. Even when I was massively into hockey and watching nightly, I still couldn't grasp how that system works!!

You See Her... I See Her

There's something about her. Something that I can't quite key on. Maybe it's her smile, maybe it's her laugh. Maybe it's the way she looks like she doesn't much care about the rest of the world. Like she doesn't have a care in the world. Or could it be the way she looks at me? I wish I knew what drives me insane about her. I don't even know that I have a future with her. I don't even know why I'm wasting my time wondering about her. I can't help it that she's probably not interested in me the way I'm interested in her. Wish I knew why I can't ever talk to her, why I'm just too afraid sometimes, it's usually when she's around.

Amazing how curiosity can get the better of me. How I so want to know more about her, how I can't stand it when she'll look but won't say anything. How her demeanor always projects coolness and just that little swagger, knowing she has my number.

Fuck I hate knowing I have absolutely zero chance of success.

I Did It

Have you ever had so much time to think about something that it became a huge deal when it really isn't?

Your pride makes you so nervous that you scenario the situation millions of times in your head, thirty times a second... and then you get there... and it's the one scenario that you left out that happens...
it goes smoothly.

So I picked up my paychecks at Circuit City today, luckily the two people there that I really want to duff in the face were nowhere to be found... So I bought NHL 06 on my way out.

Pitt, I'm going to give you a run for your money, the New York Rangers will never be the same!!

I'm A Fucking Genius

I was in a hell of a panic today. Somehow, in my drunk stupor last night... I uninstalled my sound card?

I guess I did. So the entire day was set to fix this bastard of a problem. I'm a genius, so let's just figure out what I did. Troubleshoot, nothing's working soundwise, it gives me shit for a half hour. I close out of microsoft troubleshooter because it blows. Do it manually, find my software programming folder, look... it's not there... run a search... it's sitting on my desktop and is disabled. How that happened, I will never know.
