Independence Day
So after we walked through the city and decided to call it a day in Manhattan we got back to the parking garage and we head back out towards the GW Bridge and there's a gigantic swarm of cops just walking across the street, pulling U turns in the middle of busy streets and then having conversations with the ones that were trying to direct traffic.
Why do you ask? Because they closed off some 100 blocks for the Macy's 4th of July fireworks celebration.
So we're stuck in traffic looking for a way to get back on the parkway towards the bridge but everything's closed off. Which was really upsetting, it was only 6pm and the fireworks celebration wasn't until 10pm. Yet they still felt compelled to seal it all off that early.
It's not like they needed that time to clear traffic to bring in truckloads of fireworks! The fireworks were brought in and set off on barges on the river. Ugh, it just made question that little thing called common sense.
But we made it back to Jersey (yeah, it smelled) and back to the hotel after a nice dinner of chicken fraincaise and stella.
We got back to the hotel and kicked back and tossed on the tube. The fireworks were on, they could be faintly heard from where we were, but not seen.

It was a good show, they could've done so many interesting things with 5 barges but they just shot them up one at a time and it could've been so much better coordinated.
Oh well.

It was still an amazing spectacle to watch with the bridge and river as a backdrop.
